We all have a multitude of experiences upon which to draw in order to perform in daily life. Induction allows us to identify underlying patterns in a particular experience and generate a general principle which can then be applied to a new set of circumstances in light of previous experience. Induction is the key cognitive process for transfer of knowledge from the specific to the general.
